The four parts of analytical scope
- Account or portfolio — chosen in the workspace selector, not inside the Filter modal.
- Date or day — a range for broader analysis, or a separate selected date in Daily Journal.
- Trade filters — instrument, direction, profit range, hold time, volume, comment, origin and magic number where supported.
- Journal filters — rating plus strategy, mistake and custom tags.
A page can only calculate from records that remain after its supported scope is applied.
Apply or clear filters
- Choose the account or portfolio you want to analyse.
- Open the Filter control from a supported workspace page.
- Select Trade filters or Journal filters.
- Choose the values you want and apply the filter set.
- Review the active filter ribbon before interpreting the result.
Remove one ribbon item, deselect values in the modal, or use Clear Filters to widen the sample again.
Where shared filters apply
Dashboard, Trade History, Reports and supported Charts trade context use the shared filtering contract. The control can remain active as you move between these surfaces, but each product only applies filters supported by its own data contract.
Daily Journal uses its own selected day. Dashboard templates can also carry template-specific filters that temporarily override the global set. Always inspect the visible ribbon and date before comparing two pages.
Profit filtering and displayed net P&L
The current profit-range filter uses the raw profit field, while many displayed totals prefer net realised P&L after commission, fees and swaps. A trade can therefore qualify for a profit filter on one basis while contributing a slightly different amount to a displayed total.
Treat the filter as a way to select trades, then use the metric's own definition to understand the displayed calculation.
What TraderWaves remembers
Applied trade and journal filters are stored for the signed-in user in browser storage. The last account or portfolio is restored for the current session, while only an account can be starred as the durable default. Date settings use their own persistence rules, and custom ranges are not retained indefinitely.
If a page opens with unexpected results, check the selected entity, date and active filter ribbon before assuming data is missing.
AI-assisted filters
AI-assisted filtering can translate a natural-language request into the same supported filter contract where the user has the separate Pro ai_filter capability. It does not create unsupported dimensions or change how metrics are calculated.
AI filters are separate from individual AI Trade Insights and from Wave AI chat.
Frequently asked questions
Why do Dashboard and Reports show different values?
First compare account or portfolio, date, timezone, active filters and metric definitions. Dashboard widgets and Reports can also use different supported metric contracts.
Is setup a dedicated TraderWaves filter?
No. Strategy tags are the current supported way to represent and filter repeatable setups.
Why is an equity metric unavailable after I filter by a tag?
Removing selected trades cannot safely reconstruct the historical account-equity curve. TraderWaves leaves the value unavailable rather than returning a misleading number.
Are AI-assisted filters included with core filters?
Core manual filters are available normally. Natural-language AI parsing requires its separate Pro capability.
