Review multiple trading accounts as one analytical scope

What Portfolio Mode is

A TraderWaves portfolio is a saved group of trading accounts. When you select it from the workspace account selector, supported pages request the member accounts as one analytical scope.

Portfolio Mode is different from Crypto Portfolios. Workspace portfolios combine connected or manual trading accounts; they do not manage crypto purchase lots or holdings.

Create and manage a portfolio

  1. Open Accounts.
  2. Select the Portfolios tab.
  3. Create a portfolio and give it a clear name.
  4. Select at least one eligible live or demo account.
  5. Save the portfolio, then use the workspace selector to open it.

You can return to the Portfolios tab to rename the group, change its member accounts, expand its details, or delete it. A portfolio cannot be created from test accounts alone.

Where portfolio scope applies

Portfolio scope can combine eligible history in Dashboard, Journal, supported Charts trade context, Reports-supported values and account statistics. The selected portfolio, date range and supported filters determine the records each surface requests.

If portfolio access is unavailable, TraderWaves shows a locked or subscription-required state instead of silently substituting one account or displaying an incomplete combined result. Some account-only features, including Dashboard's Wave AI Brief, do not run in portfolio scope.

Portfolio scope vs Portfolio metrics in Reports

These are separate concepts. Selecting a portfolio can combine eligible account activity for supported analysis. The dedicated Portfolio category inside Reports contains contribution, concentration, correlation, diversification, exposure, VaR and expected-shortfall metrics that are currently marked Coming Soon.

Those metrics need a governed multi-account valuation and exposure history. Coming Soon is not a broken value or an additional Pro paywall. See the Reports guide for current metric availability.

Portfolio access and account eligibility

Creating, updating and analysing portfolios requires TraderWaves Pro through the portfolio_management capability. Individual account analysis remains available without Portfolio Mode.

Only accounts you own can be added. Live, demo, connected and eligible manual accounts can participate; the system test account has product-specific limitations. If a member account has incomplete imported history, the portfolio result inherits that data gap.

Useful portfolio workflows

  • Group accounts used for the same strategy or trading business.
  • Review several broker accounts over the same date range.
  • Compare combined Journal activity without exporting and merging spreadsheets.
  • Apply one supported filter set to the combined trade sample.
  • Keep live and demo accounts separate when you do not want simulated results mixed with real activity.

Frequently asked questions

Is Portfolio Mode the same as Crypto Portfolios?

No. Portfolio Mode groups trading accounts for workspace analysis. Crypto Portfolios track manually entered crypto holdings and purchase lots.

Why are Portfolio metrics in Reports still Coming Soon?

Those dedicated metrics require governed portfolio valuation, contribution, correlation and exposure data. Selecting a portfolio and calculating every planned portfolio-risk metric are separate capabilities.

Can I create a portfolio using only a test account?

No. Portfolio creation requires an eligible live or demo seed account; test-only portfolios are not supported.

What happens if I lose Portfolio access?

Portfolio analysis shows an access boundary instead of incomplete data. An existing portfolio may remain visible for management, but supported analysis remains gated.
